What we collect, why we collect it, and how to make us stop. Written to be read.
This policy explains what Less-Tools.com (“Less Tools”, “we”, “us”), operated by JuneAye, collects when you visit the site or join the email list, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to hide anything. If a line is unclear, email [email protected] and we will explain it in plain terms.
What you hand us directly. If you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect the email address you enter and a short label for where on the site you signed up (for example, home page or article). If you email us, we keep that message and your address so we can reply.
What is collected automatically. Like almost every website, our host records standard server and security logs: your IP address, browser type, the page you requested, the site that referred you, and a timestamp. Cloudflare, our hosting and security provider, handles this. We also run the Meta Pixel, which sets cookies and reports page views and newsletter signups back to Meta for advertising measurement. See the Cookie Policy for the exact cookies and pixels in use.
What we do not collect. We do not take payments on this site, so we never see card or bank details. We do not ask for your name, address, or phone number. We do not run Google Analytics, and our fonts are served from our own site rather than a third party, so those particular trackers are absent.
We do not use your data to make automated decisions about you, and we do not build a profile of you beyond the advertising measurement Meta provides to every site that runs its pixel.
We are a solo operation and we do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We rely on a small set of trusted providers to run the site, and your data reaches them only for that purpose:
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the site and our rights. If the site is ever sold or merged, any data would transfer under the same commitments made here.
The providers above are based mainly in the United States and operate globally. If you are in the UK, the EEA, or elsewhere, your information may be processed in a country with different data-protection laws. These providers rely on standard safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for those transfers.
Unsubscribe anytime. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. That removes you from the list.
Access, correction, deletion. You can ask us what data we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Email [email protected] and we will act within a reasonable time and within any legal deadline.
If you are in the UK or EEA (GDPR): you also have the right to object to or restrict processing, to data portability, and to complain to your local data-protection authority. Our lawful bases are your consent (the newsletter and the advertising pixel) and our legitimate interest in running and securing the site.
If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell your data; the Meta Pixel may count as “sharing” for cross-context advertising, and you can opt out through your browser and the controls in the Cookie Policy.
Cookies and the pixel. You can control or block cookies in your browser and opt out of Meta’s advertising cookies. The Cookie Policy lists the exact steps.
How long we keep it. We keep your email for as long as you stay subscribed, plus a short grace period after you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept only as long as our host needs them for security and performance.
Security. The site is served over HTTPS and our providers apply their own safeguards. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we keep the data we hold to the minimum and behind reputable services.
Children. This site is for adults running or thinking about businesses. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
When we change this policy we update the “effective” date at the top and, for a material change, we may note it in the newsletter. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
